‘Goat Yoga’ comes to Mercer County – WVVA

MERCER COUNTY (WVVA) — Calling all yogis – and goat lovers!

‘Jackass Farm’ in Princeton is bringing the big-city trend of ‘goat yoga’ to Mercer County.

“You have the landscape, you have the goats themselves; it’s very laidback,” said owner Lisa Karnes. “It’s not stressful at all. It’s for anyone who just likes nature – from someone that’s a seasoned ‘yogi’ to somebody that’s never done yoga. It’s fun for everybody.”

The usually relaxing activity isn’t as calming with baby goats run around. – but it’s arguably a whole lot cuter.

“Yoga should always bring some sort of joy, whether it’s the joy of being in complete silence and at peace, or it’s the joy of playing with some really adorable animals,” said Yoga instructor Jeri Elmore. “I think that’s one of the things this accomplishes, because it’s so novel and people are less worried about what their position is – and whether or not they look funny while doing the poses. Everyone’s paying attention to the goats, and I think that really helps people get out of their shells a little bit.”

The farm is holding 1-2 classes a week. For an appointment, call Lisa Karnes at 304-952-5303 or email jackassfarmllc@gmail.com.
