In this transformative journey allow yoga to guide you to achieve equilibrium. Let your practice be your sanctuary to find your balance.”
According to Dr Hansaji Yogendra, Director, The Yoga Institute, finding balance in life requires effective planning and organising various aspects of life. “Create a structured schedule focusing on your health, family and work. Eat healthy food, sleep on time, exercise, cultivate positive thoughts, choose mindfulness over stress. Accept people as they are because, this way you will protect yourself from unnecessary hurt and anger,” she noted.

Yoga offers several poses that promote alignment of body, mind, and soul and harmonise the physical, mental, and spiritual facets of life.
The practice of yoga poses, especially balancing poses, helps cultivate self-awareness, teaching resilience and adaptability, Hansaji noted, adding that, “As the body steadies, the mind follows suit, calming inner turmoil and enhancing focus. Throughout this process, you bridge the gap between outer chaos and inner serenity. Ultimately, finding balance in yoga fosters holistic well-being, enabling you to navigate life and build a deeper connection to their authentic selves.”
Ideally, the yoga practice should commence with a prayer or om chanting for mind conditioning, as per Hansaji. Here are some yoga asanas that help the body find balance, according to the expert:
*Talasana (Palm-Tree Pose) grounds and centers, fostering mindfulness.
*Balasana (Child’s Pose) encourages surrender, aiding mental relaxation.
*Virabhadrasana (Warrior Pose) teaches steadiness amid challenges.
*Savasana (Corpse Pose) cultivates deep relaxation, facilitating soulful connection.
*Sthitaprarthanasana involves shedding thoughts, worries, and tasks, channelling full awareness within the present moment and body.
Throughout the yoga practice, staying attuned to the body’s rhythm is essential, Hansaji said. Focus your attention at one point in front of you in case of balancing poses. Focus improves balance tremendously.
“Your minds, like restless monkeys, will jump from one thought to another and distractions may arise, making you lose your balance. In such a scenario, become aware of your thoughts and bring your attention back to your body,” she concluded.
